Mock-Interview

This was a really fun class this week! Dr. Smirnova assigned five students to be principals in charge of hiring a new team of teachers for their respective schools. I was teamed up with two of my favorite ladies, Emily and Susan. Even though this wasn't a "real" interview with a real (paying!) job on the line, it was definitely still pretty nerve racking at times!

There was such a wide variety of really excellent questions. There were a few questions that I felt like I nailed... I was able to come up with an answer pretty quick and include lots of buzzwords (differentiated instruction, metacognition, inquiry based learning, authentic assessment, etc). I actually sounded like a teacher and that I knew what I was talking about. ;)

There were definitely several questions that hit me like a brick wall and I felt like I was scrambling to come up with something. Even the question that was as simple as, 'what was the last book you read and what did you like about it.' I'm a big fan of books and reading (considering I'm going for a Literacy certification, I'd say that's pretty important!) but this current semester has been kicking my butt. I was really drawing a complete blank as to what I had last read that wasn't specifically related to school work.
